Shawn Steiner
Shawn Steiner is a seasoned visualization leader, recognized with PC Magazine’s Technical Excellence Award in 1989. Starting in 1983, he and a small team at Truevision and AT&T Graphics Software Labs created the widely adopted Targa File Format (.tga), facilitating image sharing across all computer platforms. He also contributed to groundbreaking products like TARGA, TARGA+, ATVista, and NuVista TrueColor real-time broadcast video capture and playback graphics cards. Furthering his entrepreneurial spirit, he founded Denim Software in 1996, developing Illiminaire Paint & Effect, which was later acquired by Discreet Logic and rebranded as Combustion which led to Autodesk’s acquisition in 1999. His contributions to the development of a skunkworks project, Autodesk's Toxik, were the first to utilize High Dynamic Range Imagery (HDRI) with the guidance of Pioneer, Paul Debevec, solidifying Shawn’s reputation as an innovator. Steiner's experience spans product development, sales, and marketing, all driven by a passion for empowering creators. He excels at translating complex technologies into practical tools for artists and professionals, consistently focusing on delivering innovative visualization solutions to the entertainment and technology sectors. In his previous role at Marks, part of SGS & Co., he successfully integrated Nvidia’s Omniverse with USD Standardization, showcasing his ability to drive innovation and deliver impactful solutions for major clients. His diverse skillset, encompassing software development, 3D visualization, augmented and virtual reality, and film production, underscores his dedication to advancing the field. Now at Global Objects, Steiner leverages his extensive industry connections and expertise in visualization, software development, and business development to drive awareness, growth, and innovation.
